There is a moment in that Laura Nyro video where she smiles a little smile, as though she knows just how really great she's singing, and lets herself acknowledge it to herself.

You know, there are quite a few children's writers on this list who would never have written what they did if not for E. Nesbit. In addition to her direct influence, we have to consider her influence on Edward Eager and, I'm sure, J.K. Rowling, too. At the very least.
My first exposure was The Enchanted Castle, which sent me down the path to a lot of other great books. It can fairly be said that she has influenced writers and readers that way.
