Kupperman is an interesting dark horse-- I cannot deny that he has supplied us with many catch phrases, and thus contributed to the state of discourse at Big Pink. The lock here, for me, is Higdon. I first read "On the Run With Dogs and People" when I was in high school-- well before the first running boom, when the sport was still thought of as something eccentric. He's gotten me through two marathons since then, and Emily through hers which means that unlike most sports figures that we might consider for induction he's someone who has had a direct impact on our lives as athletes.
I think we should go for a theme this year and induct only the comedic candidates (including cartoonists, of course).
